a mini run

Filed under: running — Rachael @ 8:37 pm

I was meaning to run this morning, but I had one of the children off school, and then I had a call to collect another one who was coming down with the same thing. So then I intended to run this evening, until I got a text from Katie saying she wanted to run tomorrow too. Katie is rather fast and dynamic, but promises she’ll go as fast or slowly as I want. I’m hoping she’ll spur me on to amazingness. I’m also hoping I don’t die.

So just to check the ankle was working okay, I did half a mile on the treadmill at jog/walk/faster jog which only took 5 minutes. So I think I’m getting faster, even if it doesn’t seem like it.

This is amazing. The very clever Bohemian Arcade created this tour of the whole marathon course, done with Google Street View. It’s inspiring and terrifying in equal quantities.

Todays lesson: if you want a quick reality check, and a bit of a kick up the bum, look at London Marathon clips on YouTube. I can’t wait to run tonight, and when I feel tired and my legs are heavy and I want to stop, I’m going to remember that in April I have to keep on going for 26.2 miles, leaden legs and all.

box rest

Yesterday afternoon I felt a little twinge in my ankle (the one which I sprained badly a couple of years ago) and so instead of running I used a couple of ice packs to cool it and kept it raised. I’ve been wearing a support bandage too, just to be on the safe side. I was contemplating running today, and I really wanted to, but logic tells me I’d be better waiting till tomorrow.

‘I am one of the 63336′ seems to be my most common search term at the moment. I am, but only when not running.

Talking of which, as my ankle is having a holiday, I’m off to do some work.
